Corfu faces west, which means almost every coast on the island gets a sunset. But seven spots are genuinely exceptional — the kind of evenings you remember years later. Most of them are car-only.
1. Logas Beach (Sunset Beach), Peroulades
Drive from Sidari: 10 min · Best months: May-October
The most famous sunset spot in Corfu, and rightly so. Towering white cliffs drop to a thin strip of sand below, and the sun sinks straight into the Ionian directly in front of you. Park at "7th Heaven Café" on the cliff top, order a glass of wine, and watch the entire sky turn gold and pink. Arrive 60 minutes before sunset in summer — it gets busy.
2. Kaiser\'s Throne, Pelekas
Drive from Corfu Town: 25 min · Best months: April-November
A stone observation platform built for Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany, who summered nearby. Sits on a hilltop with 360° views — sunset over the western beaches, with the Ionian Sea, Glyfada bay and the village of Pelekas all in frame. Free, always open, easy to reach. Arrive 30 minutes before sunset.
3. Cape Drastis, Peroulades
Drive from Sidari: 7 min · Best months: May-September
Less famous than Logas but in our opinion equally spectacular. The dramatic white-rock peninsula juts into the sea, with turquoise inlets below and uninterrupted sunset views west. Park at the small lot at the end of the road, walk 5 minutes to the headland. Bring a hat and walking shoes.
4. Bella Vista, Lakones
Drive from Paleokastritsa: 10 min · Best months: April-October
Above Paleokastritsa, this terrace café (Bella Vista) overlooks the famous six bays. The sunset arrives slightly to the right of frame, but the panoramic view itself — turquoise bays, white cliffs, monastery on the headland — makes this a must even on cloudy days. Have an aperitif at the café and watch the colours change.
5. Mount Pantokrator summit
Drive from Acharavi: 35 min · Best months: June-September
The 906 m summit gives you sunset over the entire island, with Albania glowing behind you and mainland Greece ahead. The unique angle (looking down) is unforgettable. Caveat: the drive back down switchbacks in the dark requires care. Only attempt this if you are confident driving narrow mountain roads. See our Pantokrator drive guide.
6. Glyfada Beach
Drive from Corfu Town: 25 min · Best months: May-October
For a beach-level sunset rather than a clifftop one, Glyfada is hard to beat. Long sandy beach facing west, several beach bars open until late, easy parking. Stay for the post-sunset light when the cliffs above turn deep red — the so-called "blue hour" lasts about 20 minutes and is the photographer\'s favourite.
7. Mon Repos / Kanoni
Drive from Corfu Town: 5 min · Best months: April-October
Not the dramatic cliff sunset but the most accessible from Corfu Town. The Kanoni viewpoint overlooks Mouse Island and the small Vlacherna monastery — a postcard view that turns magical in the evening light. Park near the airport perimeter (the runway is right there), walk 5 minutes to the viewpoint.
Tips for sunset-chasing in Corfu
- Sunset times: ~20:30 in mid-July, ~19:00 in early May, ~18:00 in late October. Always check before driving.
- Arrive 30-60 minutes early in peak season for the popular spots (Logas, Kaiser\'s Throne).
- Stay 30 minutes after sunset for the blue hour — often more beautiful than the sunset itself.
- Carry a light jacket from late September onwards — clifftops get cool quickly after sundown.
- Phone batteries drain fast in photo mode. Carry a power bank.
- Driving back in the dark: Most coastal roads are well-paved. Mountain roads (Pantokrator, Lakones, Pelekas back roads) are trickier — drive slowly and watch for goats.
Best multi-stop sunset day
If you want to experience the most dramatic sunset on a single day:
- Afternoon: Lunch in Sidari or Avliotes.
- Late afternoon: Walk to Cape Drastis (45 min there with photos).
- Evening: Drive 7 min to Logas Beach for sunset at the cliff café.
- After dark: Dinner in Sidari or Acharavi.
